Craig Palmer

Reform Candidate

Update from Craig:

Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to vote in the Hedge End South by-election. Your support, your time, and your trust mean everything.

While the result wasn’t what we hoped for, I am immensely proud of what we achieved together. Coming within just seven votes of the Conservatives, Reform UK has shown that we are no longer the underdog—we are a real force in local politics.
To the Liberal Democrats, congratulations on your win. But know this: Reform UK is not going anywhere. We’re here to stay. This campaign was just the beginning.

We will continue to fight for the people of Hedge End South—standing up for local democracy, calling out wasteful spending, and defending the services we rely on. We deserve better, and Reform UK will be working tirelessly to deliver exactly that.
Thank you again for your incredible support. Let’s keep building. The future is Reform. Craig

Personal Background

I spent the first ten years of my life in Hedge End, attending Shamblehurst Primary School. My family later moved to Hamble, where I still live today and remain deeply rooted in the local community.

Community Involvement

I currently serve as a member of Eastleigh Constabulary’s Independent Advisory Group, working alongside senior police officers to provide input and feedback on local policing strategy and community safety.

Previously, I was a member of Hamble Parish Council, where I led a working group dedicated to tackling anti-social behaviour within the peninsula. Our work focused particularly on Operation Aquatic—an initiative that made a genuine difference during the summer months—and I remain committed to ensuring its continuation.

Why I’m Standing

After stepping away from public service due to personal health challenges, I’ve witnessed first-hand how our local services have declined. It now takes weeks to get a GP appointment, face-to-face consultations are rare, and I’ve been told my local surgery, Blackthorn, is merging with Hedge End. These kinds of changes are typically imposed by remote, unelected bureaucratic groups—always under the pretext of ‘efficiency’ or ‘money-saving.’

Meanwhile, new development proposals continue to flood the Council—including plans for large housing estates and, most outrageously, a quarry in Hamble. This is happening in a borough that’s already straining under the weight of overdevelopment. Our schools are full. Our roads are congested. Our NHS services are overstretched. And still, residents are ignored.

I’m running because I’m tired of faceless decision-makers forcing reckless change on communities they have no stake in. I’m standing with Reform UK because we believe real change starts at the local level—by restoring control to councils and giving power back to the people.

My Priorities

  • Re-open local doctors’ surgeries across the Borough to reduce waiting times and stop further mergers.
  • End reckless overdevelopment until proper assessments of infrastructure—schools, roads, surgeries—have been carried out.
  • Rebuild community policing by working with the Police to reinstate local beat officers and restore trust in law enforcement.
  • Promote local apprenticeships, especially in industry-heavy areas like Hamble, to support young people and local employers.

A Message to Voters

Undoing decades of mismanagement won’t be easy—but with your help, it can be done.

If our community unites behind Reform, real change isn’t just possible—it’s inevitable. So speak to friends, share the message, put up signs, and campaign with us. We need your support to reach every corner of this community and build a movement that puts local people first.

Whether it’s the Parish, Borough, or County Council chambers—it’s time to let the old parties know: enough is enough.

Be the difference. Join us at Reform UK.
